The play of light in opals: the Rainbow collection
Dear friends,
today we want to tell you about a project that has truly captivated us in recent months: opals.
Those who have seen them live already know — they are not simply stones, but small, constantly evolving plays of light. Depending on how you look at them, they change completely: green, blue, orange... every movement creates something different.
This is where the name Rainbow comes from.
How to recognize a natural opal
A natural opal is a stone composed of hydrated silica, characterized by a unique and non-uniform play of colors called opalescence.
Not all opals on the market are natural: there are synthetic or treated versions that may look similar at first glance.
In our direct experience as jewelers, natural opals always show visual variations that never repeat identically.

Why we chose opal
Opal is a very special natural stone, used in artisan jewelry for its ability to reflect light.
It doesn't have a defined color, but an inner light.
Its clear and translucent body reveals reflections that are never the same, making each piece of jewelry unique.
But there's a less visible, and perhaps even more important, aspect.
Today, many opals are available on the market: not always natural, not always of good quality.
This is why it wasn't an immediate choice.
It took time, research, and experience to find stones that truly had the kind of light we were looking for.
Thanks to Giorgio's experience, we were able to select quality natural opals, suitable for creating handmade jewelry and capable of maintaining their visual depth over time.
The Rainbow collection jewelry
We have developed several artisan opal jewelry pieces, crafted in our workshop in Locarno, each with a different character but linked by the same thread: the play of light.
- Rainbow Choker with Opal
An important piece, built on the continuity of the rondelles.
The light flows along the entire necklace, creating a full and enveloping effect. - Rainbow Necklace with Opal
A lighter necklace, with small groups of opals distributed along the chain.
The points of light are discreet but always present. - Rainbow Earrings with Opal
Designed for movement.
The opals, mounted as pendants, react to light and movement, creating ever-changing reflections.
Our way of working
Every piece of jewelry is created in our workshop in Locarno, in the heart of Ticino.
We select the stones one by one, not just for their color but for how they interact with light. This is what makes the difference between a collection of stones and a finished handcrafted jewel.
One last detail
When you look at an opal, don't stop at the first glance.
Move it, change the light, observe it closely.
That's where it truly reveals itself.
See you soon,
Giorgio & Anna
