Bespoke jewellery with precious gemstones
A gemstone, the starting point for a personal piece of jewellery.
At the De Giorgi Gioielli goldsmith’s workshop in Locarno, Ticino, Giorgio designs and handcrafts bespoke jewellery in gold and silver, with diamonds and other precious gemstones. The stone’s shape, size and characteristics guide the choice of setting, proportions and ways to protect it when worn.
Giorgio is a goldsmith and IGI gemmologist specialising in diamonds. Every design begins with a direct conversation with the person who will wear it or wishes to give it as a gift, combining technical expertise, craftsmanship and attention to the meaning of the piece.
Gisela’s opal: a treasured gemstone, a gift for her daughter
We met Gisela at our very first Christmas market in Lugano. Our relationship has continued ever since, even after she moved to Lucerne: we keep in touch, and when she returns to Lugano she stops by to say hello, sometimes bringing a thoughtful gift, sometimes choosing one for her loved ones.
Many years earlier, Gisela had bought an opal in Australia and carefully treasured it. She later entrusted us with her wish to turn it into a ring for her daughter, who wanted an adjustable setting.

A setting built around the gemstone
Giorgio designed and handcrafted the silver setting to follow the opal’s contours, taking particular care to protect the stone as much as possible while incorporating an adjustable band. The gemstone’s shape became the reference for the design.
A stone treasured for years became a piece to wear, passing from mother to daughter. Gisela and her daughter were delighted with the result: a commission born from a personal relationship and trust built over time.
Anna’s tanzanite: colour at the heart of the design
This pendant is a personal piece, made by Giorgio for Anna. The design centres on the tanzanite’s blue-violet colour, the focal point of the composition.

A precious gemstone, a goldsmith’s creation
The white gold setting follows the triangular outline of the faceted gemstone with an open, three-claw structure, leaving room for the stone and its reflections.

Ismael’s ring: five bands, symbols and diamonds
Ismael lives in the canton of Zurich and met us at a market in Ticino. He fell in love with our five-band ring, but wanted to make it personal: a piece carrying the symbols he had chosen.
Giorgio developed a bespoke version in silver, with five small diamonds totalling approximately half a carat. The central band carries Ismael’s chosen symbols, including yin and yang, often called the Tao symbol, and a cross, alternating with the diamonds.
From the 3D design to the ring on the hand
The three inner bands remain movable. Giorgio gave the two lateral inner bands a satin finish to draw greater attention to the central one, letting the contrast between finishes complement the light of the diamonds.

The care to revisit even the final detail
The ring was almost finished when Giorgio felt something was still missing. He called Ismael to suggest a small change: slightly raising the two outer bands to better frame and complete the design. In the 3D model, the bands had been planned at the same height.
Ismael welcomed the suggestion and was thrilled with the result. Their exchange reflects how we work: care for the jewellery and dialogue with the person who will wear it, right down to the final details.

A design to develop together
We can begin with an idea or a gemstone you already own, exploring its possibilities together with Giorgio. Metal, setting, finishes and comfort are defined according to the gemstone’s characteristics and the desired result. The quotation and production times are agreed before work begins.
A fitting before the final piece in gold
For gold commissions, Giorgio often prefers to make a first version in silver. For a ring, the fitting lets you feel it on your finger and see its shape and proportions in person. After any agreed adjustments, work proceeds in gold. This step is considered individually for each design.
